Dr Elma is a graduate of UCC and is one of the founders of the first GP led Primary Care Centre, Living Health Clinic. Her special interests include all aspects of women’s health and she works with Dr Mairead O’Riordan, Clinical Director of the CUMH, in her CUMH clinic once a fortnight operated in the Living Health. She is also especially interested in family planning / contraception and has been a tutor for training doctors in this area for many years. Dr Elma also enjoys other aspects of general practice including paediatric health, dermatology and travel medicine.

Dr Elma, like the other GPs, is involved in undergraduate training with UCC and UL including being involved in undergraduate exams with UCC. She is also involved in post graduate training with the ICGP International Medicine Graduate Programme to assist in increasing the Specialist GP numbers in Ireland.
